Gotham has always been a place of secrets. Now, the Riddler has found a way to tap into those secrets. What can he use them for? To destroy Batman, of course. You take the role of Batman as he tries to protect his secret identity and stop the Riddler's evil plans. You will have to run and punch your way through levels filled with enemies like Feeler, Saddo, and Jerry. Luckily, the caped crusader has a number of devastating moves he can use, including a devastating uppercut. It's up to you to help Batman save Gotham once again in this adventure game. You arsenal includes a lot of nifty bat-gadgets, and a collection of fighting moves that are unleashed with special button combinations.
The game follows the film's storyline excellently. Gotham City is the most dangerous city in the world. It is ruled by violent mobsters, and night is as dangerous as the day. In steps one man. He is making himself known, and cleaning up the city. While he is catching criminals at Axis Chemicals, he accidentally causes Jack Naiper, the right-hand man to Gotham's king Mobster, to fall into a vat of acid. Jack survives, but his appearance has been altered. His skin is now white, hair green, lips blood-red, and his mouth has been forced into a twisted smile. His sanity disappears as well, and he sets out to destroy the entire city. Batman must take the “Joker” down.
The Batman game follows the movie perfectly in the fact that there is a level for just about every scene in the film. You actually get to drop Naiper into the vat of acid, pilot the Batmobile and Batwing, save Vicki Vale in the Flugelheim Museum, and much more. There is even a few animated sequences and introductions.
I of the Enemy: Ril'Cerat is a totally free, stand alone, science fiction real-time starategy game, that is the first chapter in the "I of the Enemy" saga. The player is a Lokob (luh-kobe) officer who is in charge of his race's contingent. Major Verkkal (voice talents of Ian McNeice, famed for his role as Baron Harkonnen in Dune) is his trusted friend and Field Commander. Emphasis in this game has moved away from gathering, mining and building, and instead concentrates on interesting tactical problems.
Realistic facets of combat include reinforcements arriving according to an Order-of-Battle (which may be misleading due to poor intelligence), via a temporal gate. Indirect fire weapons (artillery) targeted by spotter units discourage fixed defenses. Each unit visibly changes as it advances in experience, toughness and morale rating, and can be carried forward to the next exciting missions as a trusted member of your team. "Advanced" units acquire heavier weapons or equivalent combat advantages.
Success in battle is achieved through maneuver rather than larger quantities of units. This makes it more important for players to achieve favorable match-ups, rather than just waiting for overwhelming numerical superiority.
Scorched 3D is a game based loosely on the classic DOS game Scorched Earth "The Mother Of All Games". Scorched 3D adds amongst other new features a 3D island environment and LAN and internet play. Scorched 3D is totally free and is available for both Microsoft Windows and Unix (Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris etc.) operating systems. You can pick up the game and begin playing very quickly. Then, when/if you are interested, you can poke in the dimmer recesses of the game and get into the strategy (or just ignore it altogether!). At its lowest level, Scorched 3D is just an artillery game with two+ tanks taking turns to destroy opponents in an arena. Choose the angle, direction and power of each shot, launch your weapon, and try to blow up other tanks. That's basically it. But Scorched 3D can be a lot more complex than that, if you want it to be. You can earn money from successful battles and use it to invest in additional weapons and accessories. You can play with up to twenty four other players at a time, mixing computer players with humans. There's a variety of changing environmental conditions and terrains to be dealt with. After the end of each round (which ends when everybody dies or there's only one person left), you get to buy stuff using the prize money you won from previous matches.
Glest is a free 3D real time strategy game, available for several operating systems and that can be modified using XML and a set of tools. The game allows the player to take control of two completely different factions: Tech, which is mainly composed of warriors and mechanical devices, and Magic, that prefers mages and summoned creatures in the battlefield.
